May 23, 2011 at 8:50 | comment | added | awe | +1 for you PS. I have seen example of a potential expert user, which is not familiar with the "SE way" of doing this, and he felt that he was not welcomed well (see his answer to the question "We should try to produce more “expert” questions". It looks like some good effort from @ogerard and @Tom Wijsman have made him more happy. We can only hope he will stay...

As long as it is possible to improve a question in a way that would still answer the question the OP has there should not be a problem, it is often the case that this is possible. Of course it needs more effort than just voting to close, but I think that's the way the communities are built and the norms are set.

May 15, 2011 at 14:11 | comment | added | Tamara Wijsman | Not worrying now means that the situation will still be worrying in a month, as it takes doubling the amount of viewers to still be in a worrying state. Why we should worry is that if there is not enough participation the site is more likely to get less visitors over time than more. Some questions can simply not be saved and if done even could result in hate speech or the user leaving our community, because it's simply changing the intention of the user in a way that it does no longer answers his question. People do like good improvements but they dislike bad changes...
